When is a sunscreen not a sunscreen?

In the 1990’s, a mother sought help from Jan, (creator of Janesce), for her six month old baby who was suffering from eczema. During the consultation it was revealed that the mother was putting SPF sunscreen on her baby’s skin.

Jan put the baby on the Janesce eczema program. But the sunscreen part of the story bothered her. The mother’s motivation was good – to protect her child’s painful eczema from the effects of the sun. But Jan realised the sunscreen could be irritating to sensitive young skin.  So, she went out to her lab and began formulating a special botanical lotion that was sun protective soothing to the skin. Several weeks later Jan offered the new Janesce suncare lotion to the mother and asked her to trial it on her baby.

The baby’s skin responded amazingly well to the healing herbs and plant oils the lotion contained. In fact, the results were so positive, it got Jan thinking. This soothing suncare product was going to be great for all ages and all skin types.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion is a very concentrated blend of selected organic plant extracts. It works by using the natural sun filters found in plants that are naturally rich in vitamins A and E. These antioxidant vitamins are absorbed into the skin where they neutralize the effect of the sun – both on the skin’s surface and in the lower layers.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion protects you from both UVA and UVB rays as well as environmental stresses and pollution. The protection it offers builds over time as the antioxidants are absorbed into the skin. It requires seven to ten days of continuous use before it reaches its maximum protection level. It is then important to apply it every day, whether you are exposed to sunlight or not.

Unlike conventional sunscreens, this botanical Suncare Lotion does not interfere with the natural protective mechanisms your skin already has in place to protect itself. One of these mechanisms is the production of Vitamin D, an important nutrient for our overall health. Many sun blocks on the market will supress vitamin D production in the skin. The Janesce Suncare Lotion won’t.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion is gentle on the skin and does not irritate. It can be used with sensitive skin, or young children from the age of six months. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive, oily or congested skin. Due to the high concentration of anti-oxidants it contains, it is also capable of slowing skin ageing caused by environmental damage.
