I’ve been doing a lot of reading recently about womens wellbeing. I’ve long known that a balanced lifestyle is important, but my research is proving that it is vital to our health. Being constantly busy will eventually impact your hormonal health, which in turn can negatively affect all the systems of your body. Not good. There’s nothing wrong with being all systems go, you can be the energiser bunny, but you have to balance that with rest & relaxation. I am, of course, bias, but I truly believe in (and regularly see) the restorative benefits of a relaxing treatment such as a facial or a massage.
Imagine for a moment that your body is a car.
Instead of an accelerator we have the Sympathetic Nervous System. It revs up the body to deal with all the challenges outside our body. Instead of a brake, we have the Parasympathetic Nervous System. This has everything to do with rest and restoration.
When you are flat tack busy, your foot is firmly on that accelerator, using up energy, if you keep going, you will deplete the tank. When you take time to rest and relax, you are effectively refilling your energy tank.
