Rosacea & MLD
Have you heard of Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
MLD is a light massage technique used to promote good lymphatic flow and reduce a build-up of fluid in the tissues. It was created by Dr Emil Vodder, a Danish physical therapist, and his wife, Estrid, in the 1930s.
The job of the lymphatic system is job to pick up excess water and protein, remove foreign particles, that could cause damage and remove excess metabolic waste. This helps to keep the dermis of the skin healthy, which in turn, keeps the skin healthy.
When lymph fluid stops draining properly, swelling or oedema can occur, in the skin this can result in congestion, sluggish complexion, it can also be a contributing factor in acne and rosacea. In these cases MLD can be very beneficial in helping drain extra fluid from the face and reduce heat in the area.
MLD gently assists the flow of lymph towards the lymph nodes, it is a super gentle, rhythmical massage that helps move fluid and it is a key element of the Calm Facials at Beautel.
